They promised growth and now it has come. Biq Group has acquired a majority stake in Brno-based developer puxdesign
Cloud revolution in the SAP world. Choosing the right course of action is important, bespoke development is the last resort
Promises are to be kept not only at Christmas. And Marcel Červený fulfilled last year's one to the dot. At the turn of last winter and spring, the head of the technology company BiQ Group promised that the company, with a turnover of almost half a billion at the time, would continue to grow in the future. And that's exactly what's happening now, as the Brno-based agency PUXdesign, which has long specialised in the development of bespoke web applications and client portals, has joined the group.
The exact value of the transaction has not been disclosed by either of the parties involved, but according to the information available, it is in the upper tens of millions of crowns, for which BiQ Group owns a majority stake. All this in a situation where last year's turnover of PUXdesign, which has 55 employees, reached 65 million, with its value reaching the flat hundreds.
Towards the West
PUXdesing from Brno has been on the market since 2004. In the past, a number of less and more well-known companies have decided to rely on its custom solutions in the field of client portals, e-shops and web applications. It is enough to mention one of the largest domestic suppliers of agricultural equipment Agrotec, multinational company Y Soft, Komerční banka or Japanese printer manufacturer Konica Minolta.
Tomáš Hložánek, the founder and head of PUXdesign, promises that thanks to the merger with the Red BiQ Group, there will be more and more similarly sound names in the coming months and years, not only in the Czech Republic. "Together we want to move into the Western markets, which requires further significant professionalisation and knowledge of the local business environment," he lists one of the main reasons for selling his own company.
